NBA basketball veteran Jason Collins made history this week, not for a play on the court but by coming out as gay. In fact Collins’ admission of his homosexuality has made him the first openly gay athlete in a major American team sport.
As you will recall, singer of the ’90s popular boy band ‘N Sync, Lance Bass admitted that he was gay and opened up about his sexuality back in 2006.
When Bass decided to publicly admit that he was gay, he told People Magazine that he was not only “coming out” but doing so on his terms and with a peaceful heart: “I’m at peace with my family, my friends, myself and God, so there’s really nothing else that I worry about,” Bass stated.
