Is Swansea v Cardiff this weekend the most important South Wales derby in history?

Swansea City v Cardiff City. The South Wales derby. One of the fiercest rivalries in British football and for only the second time ever it is being played in the top flight. And it is being played with both sides fighting against relegation, making this possibly the biggest meeting ever between the two sides.

After the managerial changes at the Liberty Stadium this week it has been a strange build up for the Swans, who will go into the game under the leadership of Garry Monk. Monk replaced Michael Laudrup who was dismissed from his role on Tuesday after around 18 months in charge and with his side just two points ahead of the relegation zone in the Premier League.

And one point into that relegation zone is Cardiff who know that a win tomorrow will not only create history but will draw them level with us in the table…
