“The birds and the bees”
“But what, you may ask, has the early and welcome arrival of bees and blossoms to do with food?”

Sclipiri umoristice
BANCURILE SĂPTĂMÂNII
.
* – Bunicule, tu știi să faci ca mierla?
– Mmm… nu cred… da’ de ce?
– Tati a zis c-o să fim bogați când ai s-o mierlești.
.

Horse logging
Several years back, actually longer then I wish to dwell on, I took photograph’s of a horse logging operation as my work entailed doing photography and video. The horse logging was used to demonstrate low impact on the forest as they selectively logged trees and the horses were believed to have less impact on the forest environment compared to heavy equipment.

The Eyes Have It! No… It’s the Nose! – A Riff on Facial Recognition
When did artists first develop the skill to recreate in portraiture a reasonable likeness of the person being drawn or painted? I don’t know? Nor does anyone else for that matter. But what I do know is that the ability to make an image identifiable was slow in coming and varied from culture to culture. In fact, there were periods when portraits were basically true to nature and then something went wrong and the skill level declined into mere nothingness. Not even into caricatures and it took centuries before that skill could be reapplied. But I’ll get back to that later. For now I want to start off this post with a two-pronged approach: some general principles and thoughts about how we know what we are seeing is what we are seeing followed by a discussion of the development of portraiture in Japanese woodblock prints.
For the infant this is “…a big blooming…

#LittleBlackJacket #Art #Photography #Singapore #CommercialCreativityinAsia
I will confess, I used to be a hater of all designer fashion labels – most properly due to the limited chance of me being able to purchase a Chanel piece; but looking at the picture you can properly tell I am now been officially converted – yet still no sign of a high end addition to my wardrobe…
Chanel is one iconic label that has been involved in the debates discussing whether fashion is for art, culture or commercial means, but when THE LITTLE BLACK JACKET, the global exhibition comes to exhibit in Singapore at The ArtScience Museum….where does someone’s argue lie with?
This saturation of Chanel was not only in this exhibition…from Orchid Road to Marina Bay Sands, you knew Chanel was there, but it fitted in accordingly with the ambiance that Singapore creates through other cultural mediums.
Being able to take photos in the exhibition was SUCH…

gravel pit
There’s something hypnotic about a gravel pit, countless rocks for as far as the eye can see, but far enough away that you will never know of it’s existence.

The Most Amazing Place
Morning Thought: The church is meant to be the most amazing place on earth, the light of the world. But we can only be a light as we focus on The Light, Jesus Christ. When we give Jesus the preeminence, people from every culture and tongue are drawn to his light. Thank you Father that you’re doing this in our day. Más Señor! “Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn. Lift up your eyes and look about you: All assemble and come to you; your sons come from afar, and your daughters are carried on the hip. Then you will look and be radiant, your heart will throb and swell with joy; the wealth on the seas will be brought to you, to you the riches of the nations will come.” (Isaiah 60:3-5 NIV)

Expect Nothing
Mihran Kalaydjian's Official Blog
Expect nothing. Live frugally
On surprise.
become a stranger
To need of pity
Or, if compassion be freely
Given out
Take only enough
Stop short of urge to plead
Then purge away the need.
Wish for nothing larger
Than your own small heart
Or greater than a star;
Tame wild disappointment
With caress unmoved and cold
Make of it a parka
For your soul.
Discover the reason why
So tiny human midget
Exists at all
So scared unwise
But expect nothing. Live frugally
On surprise.

About History – Conservation of the Gelati Frescos
Gelati (Georgian: გელათის მონასტერი) is a monastic complex near the city of Kutaisi in the Imereti region of western Georgia. The Monastery is among the most important cultural landmarks of Georgia and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The complex contains the Church of the Virgin founded by David the Builder (Georgian: დავით აღმაშენებელი) in 1106, and the 13th-century churches of St George and St Nicholas.
Church of the Virgin at Gelati monastic complex
The frescos of the Church of the Virgin are considered to be unique, as they display the entire history and most important stages of Georgian ecclesiastic mural paintings. A fresco is a painting done rapidly in water color on wet plaster on a wall or ceiling, so that the colors penetrate the plaster and become fixed as it dries.
