Wingsuit stuntman successfully flies through tiny mountain opening at 100mph

[metro-video id=”1256936″ video=”″ image=”” expires=”01-01-2020″]

A 37-year-old daredevil has stared death in the face after flying 100mph through a small opening in a mountain range in China.

Jeb Corliss, whose jump was billed as the ‘flying dagger’, managed to complete the task even though the gap in Langshan mountain, in Zhejiang Province, was only 10ft at its narrowest point.

‘This is the greatest thing I’ve ever done up to this point. I am just so, so happy that we were able to do it,’ he said.

‘I was really worried that it wasn’t going to happen. I was sure it wasn’t going to happen. I’ve no idea. I just didn’t want to disappoint everyone.’

The American thanked his Chinese hosts and said he was pleased he hadn’t let them and his supporters down.

He added: ‘I am really glad I was able to do it. This was really, really, this…

Liverpool Ladies end Arsenal’s dominance in England by capturing FA WSL title

Liverpool Ladies have sealed the FA Women’s Super League title – ending Arsenal’s nine-year dominance of women’s football in this country.

A 2-0 victory for the Reds over Bristol Academy this afternoon secured them the championship. Defeat would have seen runners-up Bristol pip them to top spot.

Louise Fors put Liverpool ahead in the first half from the penalty spot after German Nicole Rolser won the spot-kick and Amanda da Costa missed a good chance to secure victory after the break.

Reds nerves were settled, though, when Katrin Omarsdottir doubled their lead following a lay-off from Natasha Dowie, handing the silverware to the home side – their first ever WSL title.

Liverpool boss Matt Beard said: ‘The players have been fantastic and they deserve it. They have done this themselves by spending time together off the pitch and creating a great team spirit.’

Homeland season 3 has a ‘quieter kind of energy’, says producer

Homeland executive producer Alex Gansa has revealed that series 3 of Homeland will be ‘quieter’ compared with the previous two seasons.

The new series is set to start tonight on US TV and will premiere on Channel 4 on Sunday October 6 at 9pm.

Gansa told ‘Everything that happens in season 3 grows out of the attack on the CIA.

‘We are in the wake of the attack and all the ramifications of that event.

‘So by its very nature, it’s a period of reassessment, a period of getting back on our feet. It’s a reflective beginning.

‘I don’t think it’s any slower, but there’s actually certainly not a lot of action. It’s a quieter kind of energy.’

Fans will be eager to find out what has happened to Brody (Damian Lewis) since his lover Carrie (Claire Danes) helped him to escape the country.

The new series will look…

5 Top Health Benefits of Garlic

By Rachael Braun

Grown and used for thousands of years, is in the allium family, along with onions, chives and leeks. Known as the ‘stinking rose,’ garlic gets its aroma from its sulfur-containing compounds. These are also in part why garlic so good for you.

To get the full advantages of garlic, it should be eaten fresh and raw. Many people can’t tolerate the taste of raw garlic; using it lightly cooked is better than not using it at all. There are, of course, powder, flake, paste and pill form, all of which have less to offer than fresh and raw. Just a note, if eating raw garlic, don’t overdo it, as it can cause stomach upset.

Cooking tips:
Choose firm, mostly dry bulbs when purchasing. After cutting or crushing garlic, letting it sit for 15 to 20 minutes before use it will stimulate enzymes and increase compounds, making it…

Bill Clinton: Obama Can’t Negotiate With GOP on Shutdown

Former President Bill Clinton, who successfully outmaneuvered Republicans over a government shutdown in the 1990s, said Sunday that President Barack Obama is right not to give ground to the GOP this time around.

Clinton, knocking Republicans for using the threat of a shutting down the government or not increasing the debt limit  to delay Obama’s health care reform law, said on ABC’s This Week that “the current price of stopping [a shutdown] is higher than the price of letting the Republicans do it and taking their medicine.”

The House passed a bill Saturday night that would continue to fund the government, while also delaying implementation of the health law for a year. The measure is dead on arrival in the Senate, and Obama has promised to veto it if passed anyway.

“You can’t negotiate over that,” Clinton said. “And I think he’s right not to.”

Barring a last-minute deal, funding…

The stage is set, let the propaganda begin

Israel Hayom | The stage is set, let the propaganda begin.

Dan Margalit

Since the U.N.’s founding toward the end of the Second World War, its General Assembly has followed the famous Shakespearean adage: “All the World’s a Stage.” This will hold true when the General Assembly opens its latest session on Tuesday.

Interested parties have traditionally used this platform to wage a non-stop campaign to win the hearts and minds of the global community. It’s not that the U.N. has no influence-wielding bodies. The Security Council is the most important body in that organization. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization [UNESCO], which is one of the worst agencies, is important when it comes to cultural matters. But the GA, which is supposedly the U.N.’s crown jewel, has become a venue for PR and propaganda.

This was underscored by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech on Iran when…

Practice Fusion raises $70M led by Kleiner Perkins for electronic health records

In one of the biggest digital health deals of the year, electronic health records company Practice Fusion has raised $70 million in a Series D round led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers. The round, which brings the company’s total amount raised to $134 million, is meant to help Practice Fusion expand to more patients and fuel more clinical data research and development.

In addition to existing investors like Artis Ventures, Morgenthaler Ventures and Felicis Ventures, the company said institutional healthcare crossover funds OrbiMed Advisors and Deerfield Management Company also joined the round as new investors. The news comes a few months after VentureBeat reported that the company was raising $60 million in a Series D round.

As we’ve covered before, plenty of companies – from new startups like ElationEMR and CareCloud to legacy firms like Cerner and Epic – offer services for digitizing medical information. But, over the past…

Birmingham college veil row: Headteacher to step down after policy U-turn

The head of a Birmingham college widely criticised for banning Muslim students from wearing face veils is set to step down.

Dame Christine Braddock will leave the post she has held for 15 years at the Birmingham Metropolitan College at the end of the current academic year.

The college recently dropped its controversial veil ban after it attracted negative national media attention and thousands signed a petition calling for the policy to be reversed.

A spokesman for the college said the decision is part of a broader transition at board level and a ‘long-term’ planned change.

‘The board has had a phased approach to succession planning. With my own appointment phase one is complete and now we will begin the search for a successor to Christine,’ explained incoming chairman Steve Hollis.

‘She will continue in her role until the end of the academic year, to enable her to support her…

Thompson Square Shared Their First Radio Moment With A Random Woman In A Parked Car

100.3 The Bull

It’s hard to imagine a time when Thompson Square‘s songs weren’t on the radio. As their current single “Everything I Shouldn’t Be Thinking About” steadily climbs the sat down with married duo Keifer and Shawna Thompson to learn all about the very first time they heard one of their songs on the radio.

“It was actually a song called ‘Let’s Fight’ that we started out with,” Keifer explained. “As the story goes, we were in Spokane [Washington] in the parking lot of the Guitar Center and it came on the radio and we freaked out.”

They were both in the car “rocking out” when Keifer looked over in the parking lot to see a woman in a minivan. “I said, ‘I’m going to go over there and tell her we’re on the radio.'”

As Shawna explained, “He felt that he had to go over and tell…

Mesut Ozil was overpriced – but better than Gareth Bale, insists ex-Arsenal keeper Jens Lehmann

Arsenal legend Jens Lehmann has claimed his former side overpaid for Mesut Ozil – but insists the midfielder is far better value than Gareth Bale.

Ozil made his club record £42.5million switch to the Gunners after Real Madrid completed the world record signing of Bale for £86million, and although Lehmann has condemned both transfer fees, he believes his ex-club are the ones who came out on top.

The former goalkeeper told German website Spox: ‘In all honesty, Arsenal paid too much for Mesut Ozil, but that’s because Gareth Bale went to Real Madrid for so much more money. Nobody is worth that much.

‘The Ozil deal was much better. I don’t see a €50m difference between the two players. That’s how that market works when a club like Real Madrid loses the plot.

‘Arsenal are profiting from Ozil’s level of game and performance and his success is not a surprise…

Apple issues $22.99 credit over “Seasons Pass” for Breaking Bad

Here’s a bit of good news to offset the dark, dark plot lines of Breaking Bad’s final episodes: viewers who bought a pass to watch all of Season 5, but then learned the pass only covered half the shows, are receiving a credit from Apple(s aapl) to buy other content.

In an email to those who bought the pass, Apple apologizes for “confusion” over the terms “Season 5” and “The Final Season,” and provides instructions for obtaining a $22.99 iTunes credit.

The move will not only placate Breaking Bad fans, but could prove a good marketing move for Apple. The cost will be negligible for the company, especially after a banner weekend in which it reportedly sold 9 million iPhones.

The flap arose over the so-called Season Pass for Breaking Bad arose as a result of a studio decision to split the final season into two bundles of eight…

Handwriting Expert Reveals Signature Analysis of 3 Senators Facing Plunder Charges

So, What's News?

MANILA, Philippines — Europe’s top handwriting expert Dr. Gillard Von Elton was invited to the Philippines to look into the signatures of 3 senators facing plunder charges, to see if their signatures tell the whole story.

According to Von Elton, graphology  is the pseudo-scientific study and analysis of handwriting, especially in relation to human psychology.

“Handwriting analysis is a reliable indicator of personality,” said the doctor. “People can define or judge someone based only on his or her signature alone.”

Senator Bong Revilla, who is among the 3 senators facing plunder charges, also expressed his interest in hiring a handwriting expert similar to Dr. Von Elton.

“A small slant on a person’s handwriting could reveal so much about his or her psyche,” added the graphologist.

Below are the findings and analysis for Senators Juan Ponce Enrile, Jinggoy Estrada and Bong Revilla:

What The Public Doesn’t Know

I’m writing this based on my own experience, and the stories that my friends related to me. I’m writing as a government medical officer in a busy tertiary center hospital, which means I’m not a specialist, and neither am I a junior doctor/house officer. It also means that I have no power at all for decision making about human resource, buying of drugs and equipment, hospital bills, the service of other departments, my own pay or even the food I eat when I’m on call.

The only contribution I make towards the care of my patients is to care for them, with my knowledge and experience, as much as I can, with the most empathy, manners, efficacy and quality that I could give.

The only contribution I make towards the training of junior staff is by training myself rigidly, and then teach them all I know, with the little time…

The Al-Shabaab Terror Cell That Attacked Westgate

by Florian Flade

The Somali terror group Al-Shabaab attacks a Kenyan shopping center, killing scores of civilians. Among the attackers are several Jihadists from Western countries, including Britain and the United States.

The Westgate Shopping Mall in Northern Nairobi is a popular place for middle class and upper class Kenyans as well as tourists and foreigners living in the East African country. On Saturday this place became a war zone. A group of Islamist fighters from the Somali terror group Al-Shabaab stormed the shopping mall, taking several dozen hostages and killing at least 59 people, among them French, British and Dutch citizens.

While the terrorists were selecting only the Non-Muslims, Muslim shoppers were allowed to leave the scene as Westgate turned into a place of Jihad. Grilled Chicken and Peach Mango Salsa

zOld - Ang Sarap (A Tagalog word for "It's Delicious")

Grilled Chicken and Peach Mango Salsa

Sometimes chicken breast can be boring especially when it is cooked the wrong way that is why when we have some bad ones we call them white bread because they taste like one. Chicken breast when overcooked will become dry and tough making it unpleasant to eat but there are tricks in cooking them so they won’t become rubber like in texture. When I first started cooking I hate using this chicken part and always opted for the thighs and legs but once I learned how and when to use it I started loving it. So what are the tips to make it tender and juicy?

  1. Season it with salt and leave it for 30 minutes, salt acts as a tenderizer, kills bacteria and adds flavour to your meat. Note: do not leave it for more than 30 minutes as it will draw the moisture out of the chicken.
  2. Before…

00 Vladimir Putin. Russia. wedding. 12.06

Dmitri Peskov, Vladimir Putin’s spokesman, categorically dismissed online rumours that the Russian president remarried in a church ceremony at a secluded monastery in central Russia. On Saturday, a Twitter message swept through social networks claiming that Putin, who divorced in June, tied the knot again earlier in the day at Iversky Monastery in Novgorod Oblast, whilst security personnel and police cordoned off the area. In an interview with Dozhd television, Peskov called these rumours “Saturday Internet exercises born of boredom”. On 6 June, on nationwide television, Putin and his wife, Lyudmila, announced that their marriage is over. Both Putins said that the reason for their split was the president’s work, which consumes most of his time and requires a very public lifestyle. The announcement put an end to years of speculation about the strength of the Putins’ marriage, fuelled by the first lady’s increasingly…

Emmy Awards 2013 pays tribute to Sopranos’ James Gandolfini: Watch

Emmy-winning Sopranos star James Gandolfini has been remembered at the 2013 awards ceremony, with co-star Edie Falco giving a tearful speech.

So massive was the sense of loss in the entertainment world when Gandolfini died from a heart attack while on holiday in June that the Emmys clearly wanted to go bigger than the usual obituary montage.

He can’t even have girlfriends, and if he can, he doesn’t really find them coming his way due to his lack of sex. However, when the fun and vibrant Phoebe (Gwyneth Paltrow) comes strolling through, Adam’s stuck with the challenge of staying true to his intentions guide-lines, while also pleasuring her in the best ways possible, even if that does mean sexual.
