A defenceless elderly woman was left bloodied and battered when she was attacked by a thug in her own home.
Jean Taylor, 76, opened the door to her attacker who spoke to her for several minutes before forcing his way into her Bristol house.
The hooded intruder beat the pensioner around the head, leaving her covered in blood, before making off with her money.
Traumatised Mrs Taylor – who uses a walking stick – is still receiving treatment for her injuries, the Bristol Post reported.
Police took the unusual step of releasing this graphic image of Mrs Taylor in a bid to identify and catch her attacker.
Investigator Paul Hopes told the newspaper: ‘This was a vicious and prolonged assault on an elderly lady in her own home.
